Course Overview

Who Should Attend?

  • Refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump engineers

  • Maintenance teams in supermarkets, facilities management, and specialist contractors

  • Anyone responsible for installation, servicing, leak checking, or recovery of F-Gas systems

Course Options:

  • Category 1: Full qualification for leak checking, recovery, installation, maintenance, and servicing of systems containing F-Gas

  • Category 3: Recovery of F-Gas from systems containing less than 3kg (or 6kg if hermetically sealed)

  • Category 4: Leak checking of F-Gas systems (without recovery or full servicing)

What You’ll Learn

  • F-Gas Regulations & Compliance: Understand current UK and EU legal requirements for handling fluorinated gases

  • Safe Handling of Refrigerants: Practical training on safe practices and environmental responsibilities

  • System Recovery & Leak Detection: Techniques for leak checking, refrigerant recovery, system evacuation, and charging

  • Installation & Maintenance: Procedures for installing, maintaining, and servicing RACHP systems (Category 1 only)

  • Record Keeping & Documentation: Proper completion of compliance documentation and environmental records

Course Structure & Assessment

  • Category 1: 4–5 days (training & assessment)

  • Category 3: 2–3 days (training & assessment)

  • Category 4: 2–3 days (training & assessment)

  • Includes classroom-based learning, hands-on practical sessions, and formal assessment

Certification

Successful candidates will receive the City & Guilds 2079 F-Gas Certificate for their chosen category, meeting all legal requirements for working with F-Gas systems in the UK.
